City's Public Health Advisory Committee Seeks Community Input for Awarding Grants in 2005-2006

The Public Health Advisory Committee of the City of Minneapolis has been working to develop a new process for awarding a portion of the City's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for 2005-2006, and is seeking community input on the development of the Request for Proposals (RFP). The grants are intended to serve low and moderate income families in Minneapolis, and the guiding principles of prevention, eliminating health disparities, and resident-community engagement should be a component of any grant funded through this process. As the Public Health Advisory Committee begins to develop the RFP, they would like input on the following questions:

  • What are the greatest needs in your community? How would you prioritize these needs?

  • What criteria would be most important to you to in deciding which proposals to fund?

  • If you have applied for grants in the past, what has made it easy for you to apply? What has made it difficult?

  • Who should review the grant proposals?

  • How should we measure the effectiveness of activities funded through these grants?

Please come to one of the following community meetings to share your thoughts!
