Loring Park Acoustic Music Festival
Video by Green Jeans Media.

The Loring Park Acoustic Music Festival was initiated by Citizens for a Loring Park Community (CLPC) in 2011 with an initial goal of drawing renters out of their locked apartment buildings. Since then, the festival's goals have expanded to include:
  • Providing a free, family friendly environment as an outreach tool to new and existing residents in this "vertical neighborhood";
  • Recruiting new volunteers for both CLPC and Friends;
    • Supporting the NRP and Friends of Loring Park goal of increasing and promoting park activities;
  • Involving and supporting local businesses and growing support of food trucks and vendor sales, thus fostering local economic development;
  • Providing an environment to showcase acoustic music, new bands, and support local music.

    Local businesses donate food and refreshments for the performers, and the day-long festival has now grown to involve over 700 attendees, 25 volunteers - including students and staff from MCTC - and eight unique acts. CLPC and the festival planning team are currently working on a sustainability plan to ensure that the festival continues long into the future.
